About Smudge Tallow

Smudge Tallow was born from a love of motherhood, the land, and a deep desire to live gently, on our bodies and on the planet.

Long before it became a business, low-tox living was a quiet passion of mine. I’ve always been drawn to simple, conscious choices: minimising waste, avoiding unnecessary chemicals, and caring for the earth in ways that feel natural and sustainable. 

After the pandemic, it felt like many of us collectively paused and began asking the same questions

 — what are we putting on our skin, in our homes, and into our bodies? And more importantly, why?

In 2022, our family made a big leap — moving from Darwin to a small farm just outside the rural NSW town of Brocklesby. 

Here, surrounded by open paddocks and big skies, we began raising sheep on our little homestead. 

Farm life slowed everything down in the best way. It taught us to be present, resourceful, and deeply connected to where 

things come from. With sheep came a strong sense of responsibility to honour the whole animal and let nothing go to waste. 

That’s when I discovered tallow — a traditional, time-honoured ingredient that our ancestors trusted for generations. 

Rich, nourishing, and completely natural, it felt like coming home.

After having two small children, I struggled to find skincare that felt truly kind and conscious — products that weren’t synthetic, 

heavily medicated, or filled with ingredients I couldn’t pronounce. I wanted something safe enough for my babies, 

nourishing enough for tired mum skin, and aligned with the values we were building our life around.

So I went back to the kitchen.

After long months of rendering, testing, learning, and refining — usually with little hands at my feet — Smudge Tallow was born. 

A simple, honest skincare product made from pasture-raised lamb tallow, created with care and intention.

What started as a solution for our own family has grown into something so much bigger. 

Today, Smudge Tallow is helping others find relief from sensitive skin, dryness, and chronic skin conditions 

— or simply enjoy a beautiful, low-tox alternative to conventional skincare.

At the heart of Smudge Tallow is a belief that skincare doesn’t need to be complicated.

 It should be nourishing, natural, and made with respect — for our bodies, our children, our animals, and the land we call home.
